Last night I brought forward my proposal for the town to adopt a paid leave policy for town employees following the birth, adoption or foster placement of a child. A majority of council requested that staff look at additional information and further investigate a potential policy. I am thankful for the support to continue to move this matter forward. I believe this is an important policy imitative aimed at investing in our employees and their families. I also want to thank the many community members and organizations that have contacted myself and other council members in support of this issue. I will continue to advocate for this important issue, and I hope that when Staff returns with additional information, a majority of the Council will agree that that the Town should be a leader in supporting paid family leave for its employees.
