Spring 2019 Update

Hi everyone and Happy Summer! I hope you had a very Happy 4th of July, and are enjoying the warm weather and longer days. June has been an exciting and busy month filled with community service and several events honoring and recognizing standout members of our community.

Check out some of my activities below:

June began by getting our hands dirty. I joined a team of awesome volunteers at the monthly Dubois Inlet Park cleanup. It’s so important our beautiful family-friendly park stays clean and safe so our residents and visitors can enjoy it year round. I want to thank our volunteers again for their hard work and sweat equity!

FREE books! I attended the official opening of our first Little Free Library in the community. It’s a program that fosters a love of reading in our children. Reading is vital to their academic success. It’s also a great way to meet your neighbors. Did you know 92% of people say their neighborhood feels like a friendlier place because of a Little Free Library? I hope you’ll visit Jerry Thomas Elementary School and look for the Little Free Library. Thank you to the Jerry Thomas PTO, Town of Jupiter staff, Palm Beach County Libraries, and the Palm Beach County School District for getting this done so quickly, so our kids can have books to read this summer!

Our town is filled with young, athletic talent. I had the chance to meet and honor several student athletes who excelled this past school year. At recent Town Council meetings, we recognized the State Champion Jupiter High School State lacrosse team, baseball team and cheerleading teams, as well as a member of the dive team. Keep up the great work! Athletics is a great way for our children to learn team work and discipline.

On June 7th, I attended one of my favorite local events – Leadership Celebration 2018 – at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Leadership Celebration is a special event that honors standout members of the community who made a notable difference. This year individuals were honored in three

different categories: public sector, private sector and non-profit. We also recognized the Leadership Engage Class of 2018. To our future leaders: keep up the great work. You’re helping to improve our community each and every single day.

Finally, I want to wish everyone a Happy Father’s day again. To all the dads, grandads, uncles and men who do so much for your kids. It’s a gift, an honor and a privilege like no other. I’m blessed to have my two toddlers who bring my family a special joy every day and keep me on my toes!

Keep an eye out for items I am working on with the Council:

  • Establishing the new education and school safety advisory committee
  • Forming an Environmental/Sustainability advisory committee
  • Considering changes to Town fertilizer ordinance to better protect the Loxahatchee River

Please join me for the following upcoming public events:
